My mother passed away 29 years ago today and yes I do things exactly like my mother, particularly when it has to do with raising my children. When I was growing up I would become mad at her, since I felt she would ground me for every little thing. As I grew up and I have my own kids it all begun to make sense.
This prompt came at the perfect time in a day where I’m remembering her and thinking of the good times. I want my grandkids to know her through the stories she uses to tell me as a child. It’s sad she didn’t have the chance to know how wonderful they are.
Here are the similarities that I have with my mother.
You are grounded if:
- you don’t pass your test or forget to do your homework
- you don’t respect me, your dad, teachers, or any adult
- if you keep fighting with your brothers
- if you don’t do your chores
- you better eat your food
This is your punishment:
- NO toys for a week
- NO candies
- NO TV
- No playing outside
- NO ice cream
And the list goes on and on. Yes, I turn into my mother. I love you mom and I miss you!
Do you ever find yourself doing something your parents used to do when you were a kid, despite the fact you hated it back then?
Thanks for the fun prompt suggestion, Y!
