After eight long days watching the news and waiting to communicate with my family, finally I got to talk to them. The communication is very limited and the only connection is a phone land. Any other cellular company like T-Mobile, Verizon, or AT&T they don’t work. It’s incredible how much people pay for expenses cellular phones and the only ones working it’s the land lines or the local company.
My in-laws lost everything they have and when I spoke to them I can feel their sadness. They were prepared for the hurricane because their home is close to the coast, still it’s difficult to see the damages. My brother and my sister live in two different areas and they didn’t lost as much. The people in Puerto Rico doesn’t have electric power, water is running out, short on food, and unable to go back to work. A few stores are beginning to open but it’s difficult to get there. Besides they have a curfew from 6pm to 5am for safety and the wait for help it’s moving slowly.
I’m happy to have the chance to hear from them and knowing they are safe. For now, I’m waiting for the postal service to begin working so I can send a few packages and money.
Thank you to everyone who are keeping Puerto Rico in their prayers. I know my people from Puerto Rico are strong and they will get the help they need.

Wonderful that you got word from your family. I’m sure conditions there will improve day by day.

It’s hard to “like” a post like this one, even though the news was good. That picture of before/after is pretty definitive. Praying daily for your family and all the others who are suffering down there.

the hard part is we want to help them and we can’t. No postal service and no power also my sister it’s recuperating from a surgery. I keep praying for them and for a chance to help them.
