Reading Challenge for 2022

Everyone knows how much I loved to read. I have books in every room in my home. I carry in my purse my kindle so when I’m in the Dr. office I read it while I wait to be called.

My Goodreads challenge has been completed with reading and reviewing thirty books. In the past, I have read more than thirty, however lately I have been cutting down. For next year’s challenge, I’m down to twenty since I would like to reread a few old novels and those take time to finish. Some of these novels I read it years ago and it’s time to enjoy them again.

I’m rearranging my bedroom shelves with the novels I want to reread. Adding the ones, I want to read and the children’s book I read to my grandchildren. Now, my bookshelves are done and ready for the New Year.

Here is my novel’s reading list for 2022

  • La Carreta by Rene Marquez
  • Don Quixote de la Mancha by Miguel Cervantes Saavedra
  • Gone with the Wind by Margaret Mitchel
  • Lord of the Rings by J.R.R Tolkien
  • Wicked by Jerry Maguire
  • Roots By Alex Haley
  • To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

Story of my Life!

Of course I would read the book of my life and from cover to cover. I’ll like to check if the writer get’s the story right or at least close enough. Maybe it will turn into a motion picture starring Meryl Streep. For sure, before I sit to read I better have a box of tissue. Lately my memory isn’t as sharp as before and getting to read the story of my life would bring those memories back.  I would remember the way I was raised the love, sacrifices, and the hard work of my parents to raise six of us. As a child watching my mother’s health deteriorated was tough, however we did appreciate every little thing we have.

Should I want to read my horrible experiences? Depends on which one the author decides to write. Some of my bad experience as a child, I’ve never told not even my parents so those I’m sure would never make it into the book.

Another part of my story that would be touching and heart breaking would be my teenage years. I can’t forget the day I met my precious best friend Lucy. Everything we went through from partying, happy times, boyfriends, shameful mistakes, and tragedy. I lost her in a car accident in 1982 she was 23. She was going to be my maid of honor. I was devastated. My life has changed forever.  I married in 1983 I’ve my first two kids 84 & 86 and a few months later after my daughter’s birth I lost my mother. Again, I was devastated. Sadness, tears, and depression began to be part of me.

However, as I say before I would keep reading. I want to bring back the memories that for any reason my brain has blocked. The memories that made me the way I am.

What happen with the future me? Should I read that part too? I will in a heart bit. I’m curious to know what happen to me and what legacy I left to my love ones. It will be interesting to know which of my kids will miss me the most. Who will keep the memories and traditions alive?

I’m wondering if they would ban the book.

Daily Post: If you could read a book containing all that has happened and will ever happen in your life, would you? If you choose to read it, you must read it cover to cover.

Bye January

Today is the last day of January and it went fast.  A few days ago I just put away the outside Christmas decoration that was cover of snow. The past few weeks the weather has been in the 30 and 40 and it felt good, however today has been cold in a single digit and predicting snow. It’s getting colder by the hour. It’s Saturday and I’m bored.

After the laundry and all the cleaning have been done, it will be TV time. Tonight we’re planning to watch “Transcendence” with one of my favorite actors Mr. Johnny Depp and “Non- Stop with Liam Neeson.

In addition, I will be finishing the last two chapters of “The lost Goddess” by Tom Knox. I started this book back in November and I didn’t have the chance to finish it. The holidays kept me busy and now I’m being bored I decide to finish the book. By the way this book it’s very good. Meanwhile, I will be waiting patiently for the month of February to fly away as fast as January went.

Connect the Dots

Open your nearest book to page 82. Take the third full sentence on the page, and work it into a post somehow.

pope

It’s interesting that my closest book to me at this particular moment was “Pope Francis His essential wisdom”. This is a gift from my younger son that I’m been reading it as a daily guidance. It’s an inspiring book where he speaks about the eternal love of God and it reminds us the mercy and compassion of Jesus.

I turned to page 82 and this is the sentence that I obtain:

“Yes, I am like each one of you; we are all equal, we are brothers and sisters!

-General audience, June 26, 2013

This is a powerful message with all is happening around the world. I wish every person will recognize that no matter what race, color, or religion we all are God’s creation. I admire Pope Francis. He is a loving man of God who not only speaks to the Catholics community but to everyone in the world.

Thanks to my son who thought of me after he spot this wonderful book. He knew I would love it.

This weekend I went to Barnes and Noble’s and purchase these books on sale. The holidays are approaching and they’re perfect for the occasion. They already are on my nightstand waiting to be read by me. Now I’m trying to decide which one will be first.

I have already watched the Mrs. Miracle movies and soon the premiere on the Hallmark Channel of Mr. Miracle. It’s time to read books and enjoy reading.

Debbie Macomber is one of my favorite writers and I always try to get one of her books. I love her style and her Christmas stories are the best.

If someone has already read these books I will like to know what you think.  Any other recommendation for a good book for the holidays will be welcome.

Off the Shelf

Take a look at your bookcase. If you had enough free time, which book would be the first one you’d like to reread? Why?

I’ve got a few bookshelves around the house. I’ve them categorized by genres, favorites, and a must-read. I’ve reread a few books like Harry Potter, Percy Jackson, Don Quixote, and The Shack for mentioning a few.

There’s a book I’ll like to reread and it’s “Marianela” by Benito Perez Galdos. I read this book in High School and immediately I fell in love with this love story. I remember crying every page of this novel. In the end, it’s the most touching of the novel.

I found this book at Amazon and soon I will enjoy this touching and loving story. I highly recommend it to everyone who wants to fell in love with this love story.

nice weekend

summer 2

It was an amazing four day weekend at the lake. It was sunny, hot, and muggy. I have covered myself with sunscreen and I still obtain a sunburned all over my neck and my back. The water at the lake was perfect and we all enjoy the boat ride.

I took time to relax and read my book which is a series. I’m reading book 3 “The Good, the Bad, and the Witchy” by Heather Blake (almost done). I also took some time to write a little bit, meanwhile everyone went fishing.

Expending the time with the family and friends was a blessing. My husband was in charge of the BBQ. My son took care of all the drinks and my sister of the fruit salads. I ate and drink too much.

The night was perfect. The temperature drops a little and we have a nice breeze. We have the bonfire; the kids made s’mores and tell scary and funny stories. The three nights we spend at the lake we have fireworks. The night looks lovely and scenic.

After a few peaceful days, I’m back to my routine and with chores to do. In two weeks I will be back at the lake and I can’t wait.

Never too old…

The other day, I was talking to a friend of mine about how I’m trying to accomplish another of my dreams. Then all of a sudden, this neighbor who just barely knows me just said, “I was too old to reach my dreams and if by 50 a person don’t complete their dreams, then it wasn’t meant to be”. Also he mentioned, “Dreams are for the young and future generation”. I was in shock and disappointed, I just turn 54. My neighbor maybe was in his 60.

When I started with my list of dreams and I was actually 13. Some of those dreams from my list have already come true. Like being married (31 years), have a wonderful family, a nice house, a car, a job that I loved; I have traveled and went to places that I never thought of being there. So, yes I have achieved some of them. I feel amazing, bless, and fantastic and to that guy with all the respect you deserve, I want to say,” Never is too old, to achieve your dreams.” So, what is wrong with that?

I’ve been working on finishing my book (my main dream) and I’ve a journal with more ideas and topics to start a few more. I can do this. I’m not done, I’m just starting. I want to do more traveling, have a new house with a beautiful garden, and I want to watch my kids and grandkids been successful. No wrong there.

What a shame that we have a few people who think that after a certain age, there is nothing else in life for them. What happen in their life that they become to be like that? Some people like to shatter other people’s dreams that definitely make me mad.

If our dreams don’t come true it’s not that we didn’t deserve it and it’s no one’s fault. Maybe we didn’t challenge ourselves enough or it wasn’t the right time. However, no one should be so negative and grumpy to say that is not worth it to have dreams.

We can have all the dreams we want and we can dream big. We need to believe that we can achieve anything in life. Never is too late to achieve our DREAMS.

I am grateful for achieving some of my dreams and thank you for letting me dreams for more.

Reading this novel

I have been sick all weekend so being sick has given me the chance to finish MIRROR, MIRROR by Gregory Maguire and start this new novel “BEFORE I GO TO SLEEP” by S. J. Watson. I already have a few chapters done and it’s an exceptional thriller.

I’m going back to my reading. I need to know how is going to end. For the rest of the day, I will stay in bed resting. My wonderful husband has been taking care of the house and my family has been kind to let me rest.

I’m so blessed!

Have a wonderful Sunday.

My daily blessing for today:
I am truly blessed for having a loving husband who is taking care of me this weekend. Thank you, to my loving husband.
