A True Saint!

I’m catholic and I believe in the teaching of the saints, so I don’t want to be disrespectful; however this prompt it’s just for fun. In 300 years they would be celebrating St. Margret the Patron of eating delicious desserts. I love sweet and no matter how much I tried to quit eating them, I always end having a treat.

It would be on my birthday June 7th. The décor would be pink and purple with roses as a theme. My holiday would be very festive with parades, concerts, free roses, and free desserts. No school and no work and everyone would get paid as a holiday. At the end of the day it would close with a show of fireworks.  Yes, I know this is very cheesy; however it’s just my imagination.

In 300 years, if you were to be named the patron saint of X, what would you like X to be? Places, activities, objects — all are fair game.

My Christmas!

pasteles
arroz con gandules

I have fun at the Christmas Eve “La Nochebuena” party that I host for my family. We all ate, drink, dance all night and sing our “aguinaldos” (caroling).

I did cook a puertorrican menu they consist in arroz con gandules (rice with green pigeon peas), pernil (baked leg pork), pasteles (mashed green bananas with pork, cover with the banana leaves), arroz con dulce (creamy rice with coconut milk), coquito for the adults (type of eggnog with coconut milk and Puerto Rican rum), and fruit punch for the kids.

The Secret Santa was revealed. My brother was my secret Santa and gave me a vibration foot massager. I love it.

All my kids spend the night with us so on Christmas Day they all wake up early. My grandkids faces were priceless when they saw all the presents under the tree. The little ones start to play with their toys, meanwhile the rest will watch a movie. It’s now a tradition in our home to watch a movie, meanwhile they’re waiting for the dinner to be done. My menu for the day was Ham, rice with green pigeon peas, pasteles, and flan. It was good.

Everyone has fun and we all enjoy the day. I was tired at the end of the day; however I’m grateful that I can spend all these days with my family. Santa brings me everything I ask for.

Now that Christmas is gone, I’m feeling a little blue. Usually it happens by this time of the year so I considered normal. My thinking is why it has to happen or what I’m doing wrong. My husband always tells me I’m trying too hard to please everyone and I should relax a little bit more. Maybe I can make this as my resolution for the next year. It will be nice just to enjoy and have no worries.

How was your Christmas?

I think, I’m ready!

What a week. I can’t believe how busy I have been. I’m getting ready for the holidays. My house is all the decorated. Every room and corner of the house has been decorated and ready for the holiday. Today, I just finished my youngest son’s room. He will be back from college in a few days. I can’t wait to see his face. It looks festive. I just put a small blue tree in front of his window, a pair of nutcrackers on his desk, a bowl of candy, and a cute snowman on top of his TV. He’s so spoiled.

Yesterday, I did some of the groceries for the party, and the menu has been selected. I always have two activities one on Christmas Eve with the entire family and the second on Christmas Day with the kids and grandkids. My shopping is almost done, only one gift left, my husband.  Then, the hard part is wrapping all of them- that’s a challenge.

I feel the happiness of the season, but at the same time a little stress out.  Usually, the holidays cause all this mix emotions. The memories of my childhood always present, especially my mother. This is the time that I missed her the most.

I have one more week of work before my Christmas vacation will start. The school has a two week of vacation, so I better rest and enjoy the time.

I’m getting ready for bed; tomorrow will be the start of the countdown for our vacation. We will start the week with a potluck, then on the Tuesday exchange of gifts, and the rest of the week with candies and lots of sweetness. It’s fun and that’s one of the reasons I love my job.

I want to hear from my readers. How everyone is doing at this time of the year?  Are you ready for the holidays? Because I think I’m ready.

See you soon.
