I’ve Become My Mother!

My mother passed away 29 years ago today and yes I do things exactly like my mother, particularly when it has to do with raising my children. When I was growing up I would become mad at her, since I felt she would ground me for every little thing. As I grew up and I have my own kids it all begun to make sense.

This prompt came at the perfect time in a day where I’m remembering her and thinking of the good times. I want my grandkids to know her through the stories she uses to tell me as a child. It’s sad she didn’t have the chance to know how wonderful they are.

Here are the similarities that I have with my mother.

You are grounded if:

  1. you don’t pass your test or forget to do your homework
  2. you don’t respect me, your dad, teachers, or any adult
  3. if you keep fighting with your brothers
  4. if you don’t do your chores
  5. you better eat your food

This is your punishment:

  1. NO toys for a week
  2. NO candies
  3. NO TV
  4. No playing outside
  5. NO ice cream

And the list goes on and on. Yes, I turn into my mother. I love you mom and I miss you!

Do you ever find yourself doing something your parents used to do when you were a kid, despite the fact you hated it back then?

Thanks for the fun prompt suggestion, Y!
