According to the calendar in a few days the spring season will be here. However, in North Dakota it looks the season will be delayed. Mother nature is playing a joke on us, again. It’s cloudy outside and we are expecting another inch of snow.

So, for now I will be patience for the spring to arrive and to see some colorful gardens.

One-Liner Wednesday- storm

“When it snows, you have two choices: shovel or make snow angels.”~ Author Unknown

3-day-storm-3That’s my car after 3 days non stop snowing and about the quote I didn’t do either one. My husband did the shoveling and me: finish reading a book, decorate my living room, and watch a few Hallmark Christmas movies.

One- Liner Wednesday is hosted by Linda G. Hill.

It’s cold

Following the holiday vacation I went back to work for a few days and then we started to have bad weather and what they called a polar vortex. Never heard about this terminology before and I’m have been getting information in Google. Temperatures have been below 24 with the wind blowing feeling like below 40. School has to be canceled and in some areas there is no electric power. I’m being grateful I didn’t lose it for too long.

I still need to take down my Christmas decorations. I just had been lazy staying in my pajamas and having hot chocolate and a bowl of soup. The only work I have done is finishing reading a book Mirror, Mirror by Gregory Maguire also I’m been taking writing classes online and I have been doing some homework.

Now, I’m back to work again ( I work at the school kitchen) and for this week my project will be getting all the Christmas decoration down and get ready my home for Valentines Day. I will be adding some red and white décor.

No matter how cold is outside I’m grateful for having a warm and cozy home. I’m grateful for having a car that works very well in this weather and takes me to my job. I’m grateful for these coming weeks where we will be getting into the 30s.

5 days till Christmas!

I work at the school kitchen, so I’m on Christmas break too. I’m almost done with my Christmas shopping. I still need to get something for my husband. I still don’t know what I’m getting for him, maybe a beer kit -he loves beer, socks, or pajamas. I know for sure that I will be wrapping the gifts at the last-minute.

I will be baking, making the pasteles, coquito (type of eggnog with coconut and Puerto Rican rum), flan, arroz con dulce (creamy rice with coconut).

At my house, my grandkids have been playing founding Buddy the Elf. Every night, Buddy gets hidden and whoever finds it gets a point. He can’t be touched or his magic will disappear. It’s so fun that I’m been playing it too. My youngest granddaughter has the most points. The winner will get extra cookies, popcorn, and candy cane.

Also during this weekend, I will be taking my grandkids to see the Christmas lights at the park if the weather allowed it. They are predicting snow and below temperatures. It’s cold here in North Dakota.

This last five days before Christmas we will be doing some sledding, watch Christmas movies, read Christmas stories, and of course drink hot cocoa with lots of marshmallows.

I have been blessed this year. Having my family so close to me is a truly blessing!

Can’t wait for Christmas day!
