For our final assignment, tell the tale of your most-prized possession. If you’re up for a twist, go long — experiment with long form and push yourself to write more than usual.
My most precious treasure is my dad who is 78. Why I choose him?
My mother passed away 28 years ago, she was only 48. All these years he’s been living alone. Lately he has started to need medical attention. My other siblings can’t take care of him. Three years ago I went back to Puerto Rico and bring him into my home. My dad can’t walk and he’s in a daily pain because his arthritis.
Honestly, it’s hard to take care of him, however it’s the only parent I have. I love my dad very much and I considered him my treasure. They’re not a day that I think of my mother and having my dad living here will keep the memories alive.
All his live he has been taking care of us. We never went to bed hungry or went to school without shoes. He gives us a roof and raises six of us. Now is my turn to take care of him.
Thank you, dad.
